Renault Clio 2018 to feature a ‘revolutionary’ interior– report
Renault Clio |
Speaking to Auto Express, Renault’s head of design, Laurens van den Acker, confirmed the new Clio will take a big step forward from the current car in terms of interior design.
“Our customers look at the exterior and go “woah” but then they look at the interior and go “Huh?” he said. “We need to make sure our next interiors live up to the standards of the exterior.”
“We have more people [at Renault] working on interiors than ever before, and we are pushing a revolution,” he added.

These changes are expected to include the availability of the company’s latest infotainment systems, including the new 8.7-inch portrait infotainment system seen in the new Megane, Koleos and Scenic.
Outside, the next-generation Clio will draw inspiration from the new Megane, while autonomous driving technologies are also said to be on the cards.
Earlier this year, Renault’s executive vice president for product planning, Bruno Ancelin, told Auto Express the next-generation Clio could also feature a mild-hybrid drivetrain – similar to the one used on the new Scenic MPV.
“We want to add electrification that’s affordable,” he said, “it means we can give the customer just enough to deliver low CO2 [emissions].”
Ancelin confirmed the Clio hybrid won’t be a plug-in (PHEV), as it would be too expensive.
Renault EOLAB Concept |
The Eolab concept featured an active front spoiler, thin tyres and active aero flaps, all of which could make their way to upcoming production models.
The new Clio is expected to arrive after the next Megane RS, with Acker telling the British publication it will most likely make its debut at the 2018 Paris motor show. Source by caradvice.com.au
