Honda HR-V VS Toyota C-HR: The Fight of Two World Automotive Giants in the Crossover Class
Toyota has just introduced a new car in the crossover segment in the event the Geneva Motor Show 2016 early last March. The Toyota C-HR is a bit late, considering the crossover segment has been crowded by competitors such as Honda HR-V, Nissan Juke, Chevrolet Trax, Mazda CX-3, Renault Duster and Ford Ecosport. But we try to think positively, the emergence of Toyota C-HR seemed to be a fresh breeze for those who love the vehicle type crossover with cool design, out of the box but not memorable 'maksa', because honestly the look of this Toyota C-HR though Quite controversial but still looks good.
As two automotive giants from the same country, it is no secret if the competition of Honda and Toyota is like Mercedes-Benz with BMW. Both manufacturers are lately seen more incentive to increase the line of cars on the market. Both seem to not willing to let there is an empty gap in every vehicle segment, ranging from sedan, MPV, SUV or crossover. The emergence of Toyota C-HR as the representative of the last category, eventually making the two Japanese manufacturers will compete head to head after Toyota has not had a match opponent to tackle the existence of Honda HR-V.

Honda HR-V

Looking at its dimensional specs, Toyota C-HR looks longer and wider. But what should be noted is the design of the back of this car will remind us of the back of a narrow Nissan Juke. Does this also apply to Toyota C-HR?
Because if it is, then obviously Honda HR-V will win from the cabin spaciousness because the HR-V has a smart seat arrangement Ultra Seat that can be adjusted as needed such as refresh mode (connect the front seat with rear seat), tall mode ( Rear) and utility mode (making the rear seat folded flat floor).

Regarding this, Toyota stated that 2nd row on C-HR is still feasible to provide comfortable passenger accommodation. We'll prove it later if this car has been mass produced.
C-HR Machine Options More Diverse, HR-V Tends to Play Safe
When introduced at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show, the production version of the Toyota C-HR is offered in three engine options, the 1,800cc hybrid engine, a 1,200cc turbo engine that is also used by the Toyota Auris hatchback and a 2,000 cc naturally aspirated engine that will only be offered to some Certain countries. As for Honda HR-V Indonesia market, currently offered in 2 engine options, namely 1500 cc and 1800 cc. For the 1,800cc version, the HR-V shares the engine with the Honda Civic but with a smaller amount of power.
Honda still provides a choice of machines that tend to be safe |
Looking at the specifications of these engines, Toyota C-HR appears to provide more diverse options and be able to fight any brand in the crossover class. If this car goes into the Indonesian market, the choice of the current engine we think is still reasonable, except for its 1.800 cc hybrid engine that will surely boost the price of this car because it is considered using two machines and resulted in double taxation.
