Comeback player of the year in the mid-size pickup league.

It’s a crossover, it’s a truck—no, it’s a Honda Ridgeline. Named one of our 10Best Trucks/SUVs, the unconventional crossover-based pickup combines a carlike ride, truck capability, and innovative features. The Ridgeline’s one-size-fits-all body style benefits passengers with its spacious and comfortable cabin. A trick cargo box incorporates a dual-action tailgate, an in-bed trunk, and an available unique audio system for parking-lot parties. Subdued styling and a laundry list of optional safety technology separate the Ridgeline from the rest, but it’s already in a class of its own.

What’s New for 2017?
All new for 2017, the Ridgeline last saw showrooms in 2014. Unlike its competitors, the redesigned pickup still uses a passenger-car-style unibody construction and an independent rear suspension, resulting in a smooth and controlled ride. The last generation was nearly sales-proof. The 2017 design has been dialed back to a traditional trucky look; its proportions have grown to improve passenger and cargo space; and it’s been engineered to be one of the most fuel-efficient mid-size pickups on the road.

Trims and Options We’d Choose
Honda Ridgelines come in a single body style (a four-door crew cab) and seven trim levels, all with one powertrain: a 280-hp 3.5-liter V-6 mated to a six-speed automatic. All-wheel drive can be added to any model for $1900, but it’s standard on the top-tier RTL-E and Black Edition. We’d choose the mid-level RTL and opt for all-wheel drive, as it increases the tow rating from 3500 pounds to 5000. For $765, the RTL adds a number of features versus the lower Sport trim, including:

• Leather-trimmed interior
• Heated front seats
• Acoustic windshield
• 10-way-power-adjustable driver's seat and four-way-power-adjustable passenger's seat

Our all-wheel-drive RTL forgoes the frustrating 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the next-level RTL-T in favor of the standard 5.0-inch display unit. This saved us $2150 and left the total cost of our nicely equipped Ridgeline at $36,620. Source by caranddriver website.
