2017 Honda Ridgeline - Fuel Economy Review

C/D Fuel Economy
Oftentimes, fast doesn’t equate to fuel efficient. Except for the Ridgeline, which offers class-leading fuel economy and can scoot to boot.

The 3.5-liter V-6 in the Ridgeline is the most fuel-efficient six-cylinder engine in its class, regardless of whether it’s outfitted with front- or all-wheel drive.

In an attempt to replicate how most people drive on the highway, we’ve devised our own fuel-economy test. Our procedure entails a 200-mile out-and-back loop on Michigan’s I-94 highway. We maintain a GPS-verified 75 mph and use the cruise control as much as possible to mimic the way many drivers behave during long trips.

During this test, the Ridgeline exceeded its highway rating by a significant 3 mpg. That figure matches our results for a 2016 GMC Canyon with the turbodiesel and all-wheel drive, which is impressive considering the Honda’s regular gas engine.

Based on our fuel economy and the Ridgeline’s 19.5-gallon tank, the pickup should have a range of 550 miles.
