Fuel Economy
2017 Mazda CX-3 | Fuel Economy Review
If fuel efficiency is the name of your game, then the CX-3 will not disappoint. Its EPA estimates put it at the top of the segment whether equipped with front- or all-wheel drive.
We’ve devised our own fuel-economy test in an attempt to replicate how most people drive on the highway. Our procedure entails a 200-mile out-and-back loop on Michigan’s I-94 highway. We maintain a GPS-verified 75 mph and use the cruise control as much as possible to mimic the way many drivers behave during long trips.
Our all-wheel-drive test vehicle returned 30 mpg, which is lower than its 32-mpg EPA highway rating but in line with most its rivals.
The CX-3’s small 11.9-gallon fuel tank should provide a highway cruising range of 360 miles, which is at the low end of the segment.
